Moon

Moon is an armchair inspired by the two comic magazine “Destination Moon” and “Explorers on the Moon”. I was fascinated with the space costumes worn by Tintin and his crew during their adventures in space. The contrast between the orange costume and the clear blue oxygen tubes became the main inspiration for the expression of the chair. The shape of the costume was also something I found appealing which resulted in the cylinders shaping the seat. The comic magazines were released during the 1950s, a decade shaped by a futuristic spirit and a sharp shaped design. Elements which can be found in the design of Moon with its shape reaching upwards and its well-defined geometric shapes.

The armchair is constructed of a steel frame with a wooden seat covered with fabric and padding.
